Terms of Service

Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and [COMPANY NAME] (“Lapseguard”, “we”, “us”) governing your access to and use of the Lapseguard application and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind that organisation.

2. The Service

Lapseguard monitors TLS certificate renewals by probing the endpoints you configure and by reading public Certificate Transparency logs, and it alerts you when a renewal appears not to have happened as expected. The Service is a monitoring aid only. We do not guarantee that it will detect every certificate issue, that alerts will always be delivered, or that it will prevent any outage or expiry. You remain responsible for your certificates and infrastructure.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at [CONTACT EMAIL] if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. Authorisation to monitor

You may only configure Lapseguard to monitor hostnames and endpoints that you own or are otherwise authorised to monitor. You must not use the Service to probe, scan, or collect information about systems you do not control. Misuse of the Service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

Your use of the Service must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy and all applicable laws. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or that policy.

6. Third-party services

The Service can deliver alerts through third-party providers (such as Slack, email, SMS, and PagerDuty) and reads from public Certificate Transparency logs. Your use of those third parties is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. See our Sub-processors page.

7. Fees

[PRICING / FEES — describe any paid plans, billing cycle, taxes, and refund terms, or state that the Service is currently provided free of charge.]

8. Intellectual property

We retain all rights in the Service. You retain all rights in the data and configuration you provide. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the Service for you.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lapseguard will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service — including any missed, delayed, or incorrect alert, or any certificate expiry or outage. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to [LIABILITY CAP, e.g. the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100].

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, or for operational, legal, or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

14. Contact
