Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of Lapseguard and is part of our Terms of Service. Because Lapseguard actively connects to network endpoints and queries public logs on your behalf, responsible use matters. By using the Service you agree to the rules below.

1. Only monitor what you're authorised to monitor

You may configure Lapseguard to monitor a hostname or endpoint only if you own it or have explicit authorisation from its owner. You must not use the Service to probe, scan, fingerprint, or collect certificate or network information about systems you do not control. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to monitor every target you add.

2. No use to attack or overload others

You must not use Lapseguard — including its endpoint probing and Certificate Transparency lookups — to launch or assist any attack, to perform denial-of-service or stress testing against third parties, to evade access controls, or to overload, disrupt, or degrade any system or network.

3. No unlawful or harmful use

4. No interference with the Service

5. Fair use

Use the Service within any published quotas and in a way that does not degrade it for others. We may apply reasonable rate limits to protect the Service and the endpoints and public logs it interacts with.

6. Enforcement

If we believe your use violates this AUP, we may remove offending configuration, throttle, suspend, or terminate your access, and where appropriate report activity to the relevant authorities. We may act immediately where there is a risk of harm. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent termination.

7. Reporting abuse

To report a suspected violation of this policy, email [ABUSE CONTACT EMAIL].
